Cathy Buckle - A Memorial

A single rose fades away but will be remembered forever for her beauty in the hearts and minds of her family and friends as well as in the beautiful things she created in her lifetime which could outlive her for generations to come.

BUCKLE, Catherine Sheryl
January 19, 1968 - January 31, 2007

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Cathy. Cathy is survived by her mother, Vicky Vickers, her father, Robert Buckle (Nicolette), her sister Michelle Scott (Michael), her grandfather, Randy Vickers (Vera), her uncle Chris, aunts Joanne, Holly (Barry) and Robin (Ted) and her cousins and nieces. Cathy will also be remembered by members of her extended family and her best friend Theresa. The family would like to thank Cathy's aunt Holly for being Cathy's loving friend and also her caregiver through her illness. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff on Royal One at the Jubilee for the excellent care they provided Cathy.

Cathy was an accomplished quilter, seamstress, and needle worker winning many prizes at the Saanichton Fair. We will all treasure the many items she made. Cathy was involved with the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA) since she was 15 and pursued informal study of the history, architecture and needle crafts of that time. For several years she taught medieval needle crafts at the SCA's annual Ithra at UVic. She will be missed by her friends in the SCA and her coworkers at the Greater Victoria Public Library.

Celebration of Life Open House
Sunday, April 1, 2007 - 1-5 pm

Please join us for a celebration of Cathy's life at an open house on Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 1-5pm in the home she shared with her Aunt Holly and Uncle Barry at 1515 Arrow Road (off Cedar Hill Road, one block north of Mackenzie Avenue, behind University Heights Mall). All friends of Cathy and her family are welcome to attend.

The house will be an art gallery of Cathy's needlecrafts. Holly says, "The emphasis will be on celebrating Cathy and her gifts and the things she loved and how she touched different people with her knowledge and enthusiasms. If you like, please bring or wear something you have from Cathy such as stories, pictures or needlework to share with us. Sharing memories, I think, helps the spirit know how much it's loved and that can only be a good thing."
